Part-time Office & Outreach Specialist

 

Purpose of Position:

Inspire travelers to extend their stay in the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region and visit more than one part of our region through exceptional customer service, accurate information, and passion for the diverse recreational activities throughout the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. This position also provides office support and relief for the receptionist for Travel Lane County’s administrative office and works closely with the tourism department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work shifts at the Downtown Eugene Visitor Center and occasional outreach events.
  • Front desk reception for Travel Lane County.
  • Assist visitors with trip planning.
  • Able to maintain front desk organizational systems.
  • Payment processing and retail sales.
  • Assist with special events.
  • Data entry and data import.
  • Assist office staff with projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for and knowledge of the Eugene, Cascades & Coast’s (Lane County’s) adventure, culinary, and cultural offerings. 
  • Exceptional customer service, promptness, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work easily & professionally with a variety of visitors, coworkers and clients.
  • Values mission of Travel Lane County; positive representation.
  • Clear written and oral communication. 
  • Ability to handle fast paced customer service environment and multiple tasks at one time. 
  • Strong writing, telephone and communication skills.
  • Accurate data entry.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to use all aspects of a multi-line phone system.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Internet) and ability to use a type for extended periods of time.
  • Experience operating a cash register/POS system for retail sales.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Willing to work with limited privacy in a public workstation shared with other team members.
  • Available to work regularly scheduled weekend shifts and after hour events when necessary.
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. from the floor and carry short distances.
  • Able to stand for duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Able and willing to use standard cleaning supplies.

 

Compensation/Hours:

  • This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
  • This position reports to the Visitor Services Manager
  • This position works weekends and midday two days a week at the Downtown Eugene Visitor Center.
